Playing right field as the fourth batter of Team Baek, Cave stood at bat for the first time in the bottom of the second inning. The opponent team was right-handed sidearm Park Jung-soo. After watching the first pitch, Cave hit a four-seam fastball of 140 kilometers per hour on the second pitch to hit the homer over the right fence. It was an unofficial first homerun in the team's first match against Cheongbaek.

Afterwards, Park Jung-soo grounded out Im Jong-sung to third base and Choo Jae-hyun to shortstop. After allowing a hit to Kim Dong-joon, the rain on the baseball field intensified, and the game ended as it was.

"I didn't expect too much or get greedy because it was a match between blue and white," Cave said after firing a home run. "I feel much better when all my teammates congratulated me and were so happy," he said. "When I was running around the bases, not only my teammates but also my coaches and fielders congratulated me. That's the energy that gave me the best after joining Doosan."

Left-handed batter outfielder Cave played full-time for the Colorado Rockies in the Major League last season. He played in 123 games and recorded a batting average of 0.251 with seven homers and 37 RBIs with an OPS of 0.686 (on-base plus slugging percentage). He is not a big hitter, but he is a mid- to long-range hitter who boasts strong wrist strength and fast bat speed. With Cave's joining in, Doosan has gained strength in its left-handed main catcher following Kim Jae-hwan.

"I want to be one of the best hitters in the league. And my goal is to please fans beyond my teammates," Cave said. "Without fans, there is no professional baseball player job. I will prepare well to please fans with my teammates."
